The proposed Nana Glen Solar Farm will be a 17-Megawatt installation. This will generate 33,000-Megawatt Hours of clean, green electricity every year, that’s enough to power 5,500 homes, without the need to burn any fossil fuels and release potentially climate changing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It will be located approximately 2.5 Kilometres south west of Nana Glen, just off Orara Way, adjacent to the Essential Energy substation and occupy approximately 34 Hectares. Its operational lifetime is 30 years, after which the land will be restored to its current state. Construction does not introduce any harmful substances into the ground of the atmosphere and post construction is can be grazed by sheep.
Construction is expected to start in May 2019 and last for approximately 6 months. The carefully planned and supervised work can be categorised into 3 phases:
Site establishment and preparation for construction, which includes; ground preparation, construction of the internal track system, upgrade of existing access points, preliminary civil works and drainage.
Construction, which includes; installation of the infrastructure listed below.
Post construction, which includes; removal of temporary construction facilities and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.
Infrastructure which will be installed on this site includes; temporary cabins during construction, fencing, CCTV, Infra-Red Lighting, solar panels and mounting frame, underground cable, inverters, transformers and site cabins for components.
